Plain

If exuberance is good and drunkenness is exuberance, I have, in my youth, had more than enough positivity for a lifetime.

If madness is bad and chaos is madness, I had, before I knew words, enough negativity for a lifetime.

If boredom is bad and equanimity is boredom, the rest of my life looks plain.

The thing about "if, then" statements, is that the hypotheses have to hold.

If my assumptions are correct, then...

I think your assumptions are colored by the exhaustion that comes from moving.

Believe me, drinking is not always exuberance. Exuberance IS good, but drinking is sometimes just a sad compulsive ritual to escape from life.

Do you think law school is going to be boring? I don't think it will be, not compared to lower-casing the 'H' in high-speed Internet.

I hope this dark mood lifts as your muscles recover from your move.

That's true. Law school will definitely not be boring. There is a popular image of lawyers being boring, but most lawyers I've known have been pretty interesting.

Also, every time I've ever moved, I've had a period of discontent, even when I moved to San Diego. Considering how long you've lived in Carroll Gardens, I would imagine that this feeling would be intensified. It is temporary.

Thanks.

It's not meant to mean all that much, just reflect a momentary mood.

If all the animals on the equator were capable of flattery, then Thanksgiving and Halloween would fall on the same date.

I hope summer comes soon this spring.
